Happy Halloweenie :)

So Ive got this fall baking cook book from the grocery store about two years ago and every year I try 1-2 new recipe's from this bad boy.  Today I got a hankering for this said baking and I tried these... they didnt turn out too bad, however the picture is so cute isnt it??? Needless to say, these arent on my 'biggest loser' diet. BOO.

Food and Vino... my fav's!

Mike and I were doing a photo booth at the Golden Mast the first part of October and if you have never been there, its an amazing venue. Anyways, they always have wine tastings every month, so I thought it would be fun to have another 'date night' and check it out.  Well... as I was waiting for the date night to approach I was driving on the beltline and seen the billboard for Madison Food and Wine show!!! YES!!!!  Its a whole weekend worth of the obvious (food and wine) but they have dueling chef competitions AND beer tasting this year!!!!

Needless to say, we cancelled the wine night at the Golden Mast which was only 3 hours long vs this sweet deal! Im pumped!  Anyone else going to this???

Why oh why do you have to be so good???

Last night was 'date night' and generally we go to 1855, a restaurant in Cottage Grove but I have been craving the Texas Roadhouse stuffed sweet potato!!!!  OMG!! Its awesome! Anyways, I met Mike there and since he was stuck in traffic I decided that I will have a glass of Chardonnay... well this led to 3 more.  UGGhhhh, its so damn good paired with my decadent sweet potato as well.

The Perfect Saturday

This is the time of year when I get really "Martha S." and want to try new recipes and get our annual apple cider/pumpkins/honey crisp apples, etc.. So, on Saturday, I worked in the morning then met up with Mike and Mary (the best Mother-in -Law) and checked out the farmers market.

Mike and I absolutly LOVE stopping at Starbucks on the square and waiting in the rediculous line, to get our pumpkin spice latte's. This has been our tradition for 4years, and I always look forward to our 'mini-date.'  Anyways, we stopped to get our dose of caffeine for the morning and this line was around 15 people deep, but if you enjoy waiting for a piping hot, delicious coffee inside while the 1st snow was flying, it was SO worth the 20 min wait!!

Then we were off...
I was on the hunt this year for a spaghetti squash. Ive never made one before but of course Ina Garten (my hero) has been roasting these latley, so I HAVE to follow her lead.  :)

Not only did I find my perfect squash, and fresh herbs to make another batch of homemade chicken stock but Mary bought fingerling potatoes. I seriously LOVE the hunt for the 'best' looking veggies at the best price, and our mini date was complete with a trip to Macys and lunch at the Great Dane. My pics I think capture our perfect little Saturday.
