On the road again (with a side of Beyond the Booth)

So obviously my title has a touch of sarcasim but honestly, I find it warranted.

About 2 months ago my friend Sara asked me if we would be interested in running Beyond the Booth for Edgewood's homecoming. We obliged, and I was actually looking forward to it UNTIL our drive to the event.
Mike's car has a history of 'sputtering' when its between 1/4 and 1/8 of a tank of gas. As we were literally right around the corner, this sputtering started and all of sudden Mike says "uh-oh, my car again."  Me: Why does it keep doing this....hopefully we can get there.  We did, THANK GOD!!

The booth went great, we started at 9pm and were contracted til midnight and by 12:10am we were loaded up, said our goodbye's and the drama began... (insert super annoyed eye roll here)   THE CAR DIDNT START, (shocker...  )

As history replayed itself with this 'sputtering' problem, we remembered that Mike's dad said to kick (yes, kick) the fuel tank when this happened because its probably a vapor lock. Mike did, and nothing. (Last time it worked)  he kicked it again, and again and again.  NOTHING!
It is now 12:45am and ive been up since 415am. Not cool.  So after a heated exchange of words, we call Mike's dad and he was so great and hopped out of bed and was on his way to rescue us.  After 35-40mins he didnt show, we tried calling. No answer.  We waited a couple more minutes and we get a call, his dad of course. He is at WOODMANS not Edgewood.  (Insert the biggest eye roll ever)

He thought we said 'Woodman's," drove there, didnt see us, realized he didnt have his phone, drove ALL the way home to get his phone and thats when we received his call.  So another 25mins passed and we were rescued. YAY!
We finally get home about 1:40am and I have to work at 5am. I gave Mike the speech "if you start snoring, im seriously going to go off the deep end."  He decided he would play it safe and sleep on the couch. What a guy!
The next day, I was back at Edgewood for class (after the most grueling morning at work) and as I was leaving, Mike and the tow truck were pulling in.  Now, if it were up to me, his car should be driven off the Hoover Dam, but noooooooooooooooooooooooo. Mike is insistant that his car is going to last forever and just needs a new fuel pump. (blah, blah, blah)  Well, $500 later, his beater with a heater is on the road again. (What I wouldnt give to drive it into one of those crash test walls)
Moral of the story.... dont mess with my sleep pattern and fill up your gas tanks if you find that your BMW has a "sputtering" problem.   hahaha.  I can laugh now but WOW was that a night!!!

Officially FALL

Sigh...

Im not really sure how I feel about this weather, hence the 'sigh.' I guess Im in denial about the seasons' change. Im so used to the hot summer days that wind down with 75degree weather, then 70's for awhile, maybe another jump into the 80's but not 90degrees to 50!  Obviously I have zero control over this, but it seemed like 2 days ago that we were celebrating Mike's 30th and it was 95degrees. (Brewer Booze Bus )  But now I feel like im "forced" to strum up all my Fall decorations, buy pumpkins, hurry up and get our yearly picture taken while the leaves are changing and make chili. BOO.

The good news is its Badger season, which turns my "Purple" blog red. We started out the season with bang! Mike and I have made the first couple tailgates, rain or shine. With our photo booth season still in full force, this is AMAZING that we got to make any of the game days but nevertheless the pictures never cease to amaze me!
Thanks to Marnie, The Bechen's and Jon and Kelly we cant wait for more fun days like these!

With the season change, I also made my winter batch of homemade chicken stock today. I have to admit, this year it turned out FANTASTIC! I really dont know what I did that made it better, but thanks to Ina Garten and her fabulous self, I have tons now.  (Before and After)

Made apple/pear crisp too...

Last Sunday Mike and I were invited to be a vendor in the Overture Luxury Wedding Show and it was a total success!  This show was like no other, all the vendors that participated are hand picked from the organizer(Amy Johnson, One Fine Day) and it was seriously the most beautiful, organized, classy show Ive ever seen.

As the brides entered, they were welcomed with catering staff from Fresco, the restaurant that is on the roof of the Overture. Passed champagne and mimosa's were offered as well as hordevours (sp?) that were bite size peices of heaven. Im talking fancy shot glasses filled with hummus and crudite', homemade mac and cheese on chinese spoons and mini steak kabobs. It was beautiful!
Since we wanted our booth to stand out, we set up our booth, which we've never done before, as well as had a gorgeous arrangement made by Beauty Blossoms (a florist on West side of Madison) and revamped our guest book to make it POP.
Im kicking myself right now for not taking pictures but I did snap pics of the flowers we had.  The yellow arrangement was complimentary of Beauty Blossoms, after the show all the florists, cake vendors, and salons hand out all their freebies and displays. Since we work a lot with Betty "I do" cakes, American Club in Kohler, Beauty Blossoms and Rejuvination Salon, we came home with champagne cake, shower gel from the spa (Waters) at American Club, the yellow arrangment and Aveda "Hand Relief."  Not to mention bookings galore for 2011!  It was a great day!!!
